and wants to say that the quesarito from taco hell it's probably one of mankind's greatest inventions.

And crazedclay talking about his promotion makes me want to talk about my workplace bullshit. For instance: my shop foreman is an average technician at best. My colleagues have agreed that I am a better shop foreman than our actual shop foreman because I get the work out the door with happy, educated technicians whereas out foreman gets the work out the door with grumpy technicians who haven't learned anything but how to gossip better. Also my service manager has an unhealthy relationship with our 2nd worst service writer and the whole shop suffers because of it. Out service manager is also somewhat afraid of confrontation and won't fire or worst service writer even though he probably shouldn't even be in this industry and costs us lots of money. And our parts manager won't fire our delivery driver even though he has cost us $250k per month in lost accounts. Yes, these accounts specifically cited the driver as the reason for severing business ties with us.

The wife and kid are out of town this weekend so I get to be a "bachelor" for a couple of days.

The quesarito is amazing.

The qeusarito is a delicacy. A cheap, unhealthy delicacy. And no offense if any is taken, but how hard can delivery driving be?

It always cracks me up to hear stories like this. Why is it funny? Because I've been fired for the dumbest shit ever. If I lost a dealership a buttload of money, I'd expect to be fired, not because another technician said he thought I was going to run him over in the service drive.

Oh and I think I figured out my tire wear I was telling you about a while ago; I don't have enough negative camber. I haven't done an alignment yet, but I was wondering, do I need the Mercedes special tool to measure the ride height?

Right?! Rush parts needed. Ordered 4 of X. All in stock at our store. Took driver 4 deliveries spanning a whole day to get them all there. Small parts. With a bad attitude. And damaging expensive body parts by dropping them and not caring. Oh and he had decided to leave us to go work at a major shipping company whose main colors may or may not be orange and purple. He is done in a week and no replacement has been hired. And out parts department is under staffed the way it is.

I guess I haven't suffered enough from taco bell to know what a quesarito is

I haven't tried it that way. I just get the normal beef version. I'm a sucker for nacho cheese.

Yeah. If I cost the shop even a couple grand I know for sure they would kick me out. I don't know what the parts manager is thinking.

To measure ride height, you need the Romess angle gauge that Mercedes uses, because it is specifically designed to measure ride height on our cars. The control arms usually have little nubbins that line up with the tool perfectly. The car also needs to be on a perfectly flat surface or the angle readings well be wrong. Sorry, but in my slightly inebriated state I doubt remember this previous conversation we had or what you drive.

It's a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla. Taco hell is less than a 5 minute walk from my house, So it's a staple in my household. Because it's cheap and we have strong stomachs apparently.

Yeah it's kind of bullshit that techs can't make any mistakes but service writers and parts guy can screw up all day long.

Shit, isn't that tool incredibly expensive?

And it's alright, I talked to you about this a while ago. I drive a 2000 C230 Kompressor that I've lowered.

Pretty much. But that's a better ratio than sex can end up being: a few minutes of pleasure for 18 years in hell... I keed, I keed!

Agreed. And they make more money than us. For sitting on their asses and not really having to know or do anything other than schmooze.

Yes. Which is why it would probably be worthwhile to just pay a dealer to do it. Lots of them offer free alignment checks, then maybe you can straighten out out yourself from there? I would totally do it for you with an oppo discount but I suspect we're not close enough for that to be particularly feasible.

It sounds familiar now...

Yeah they really work up a sweat in their air conditioned offices.

I would, it's just I don't trust anyone to work on my car. Plus, I want custom alignment angles; I've been working on it for three years and I'm so close, all I need now is the ride height and I can fine tune it.

II'm all the way down in LA, but if I ever go up to Washington in my car to see ddavidn, I'll definitely stop by and let you align it.

I would just ask if you can talk to the tech doing it. Most of us are open to custom requests.

I suppose, I just don't trust anyone really, I've seen way too many shitty technicians. Even good ones do things I'd never do.

Kinja'd!!!1

I know exactly what you mean. But look at it this way: would you rather drive your car with no alignment done or a mediocre alignment? A lot of shops will try to be helpful and get the best tech for the job if you are open and upfront about what you want, just let them know you're looking for something more comprehensive than a noob can probably do.

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > AMGtech - now with more recalls!

Or, I could continue to be a pain in the ass and I'll just buy the right tool, like I've been doing for everything else, so the job gets done right, by me.

Do you think I could get an alignment check and get the ride height specs from them?
